Freelance Work

Who says you need a full-time job? You can set your own hours, choose the right mix of projects, and feel good about the work you do. There are plenty of resource for freelance jobs, consulting jobs, contract jobs and part time jobs. Nowadays companies are utilizing the varying skills of free agents more than they ever have in the past. You should look for project-based services from quality employers and enjoy building your portfolio your way to achieve a more fulfilling career.

Fancy the idea of being your own boss? Going freelance means you can work for other people, either on site or from another base. You decide what work you do, when you work overtime or if you take Friday off. To be successful, you'll need motivation, be a self starter and be organised.

When you're freelancing you're a lone ranger. It's up to you to find work - people won't offer it if they don't know who you are. And if you don't get the work done, no one else will. You will think about money and how quickly you get paid. It may be weeks or months after you've done the work. You won't necessarily have a regular income.

Find out how freelancers are used in the industry. Talk to someone already freelancing and find out what it's like. If it's your hobby, will you still enjoy it 9 to 5? Is there a local market for your service? Freelancers don't get paid holiday or sick pay.

If you are ambitious and appreciate spare cash and if you are good, which is naturally a prerequisite for the whole endeavour, then I believe you can be pretty well off freelancing. But if you like more free time, doing research, just contemplating, then your income will be of course lower. It's your own choice. Freelancing is full of choosing as you don't have the boss there to choose for you. Deadlines are there which ever way you work and there may be a slight difference in the sound they make as they fly by. Stress is different, because it's all your choices - you don't have that stupid boss to blame.
